    Inside the Vermont South Community House, you'll find The Cafe House. It's a social enterprise, a proper working cafe where locals can eat, and also gain working experience. One of the rooms (the very one where I went to calligraphy classes years ago) has been turned into a pretty and bright cafe, with lovely artwork in display. The menu is simple and appetising. I admired the swiss roll made in house. My coffee was strong and excellent. There are magazines to read, a garden outside to look at, and you can sign up for a class while you're there. It's adjacent to the library, so there's your pleasant day out right there.
